How does Union Square Credit Union protect my personal information?

To protect your personal information from unauthorized access and use, we use security measures that comply with federal law. These measures include computer safeguards and secured files and buildings.

We also maintain other physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect this information, and we limit access to this information.

How does Union Square Credit Union collect my personal information?

We collect your personal information, for example, when you

  • Open an account or apply for a loan
  • Apply for financing or provide account information
  • Show your driver’s license

We also collect your personal information from others, such as credit bureaus, affiliates, or other companies.

Why can’t I limit all sharing?

Federal law gives you the right to limit only

  • Sharing for affiliates’ everyday business purposes—information about your creditworthiness
  • Affiliates from using your information to market to you
  • Sharing for nonaffiliates to market to you

State laws and individual companies may give you additional rights to limit sharing.

What happens when I limit sharing for an account I hold jointly with someone else? Limits for sharing by one will apply to everyone on the account.

Definitions

Affiliates

Companies related by common ownership or control. They can be financial and nonfinancial companies.

  • Our affiliates include companies with a Union Square name, such as Union Square Insurance Agency.
Nonaffiliates

Companies not related by common ownership or control. They can be financial and nonfinancial companies.

  • Union Square Credit Union does not share with our nonaffiliates so they can market to you.
Joint marketing

A formal agreement between nonaffiliated financial companies that together market financial products or services to you.

  • Our joint marketing partners include insurance companies.

Other important information

Mobile App Collected Information: We may collect information from your mobile device such as device settings, unique device identifiers, information about your location, and analytical information that may assist with diagnostics and performance. For your convenience, you may be asked to grant permission for access to your mobile device's geolocation data. This information may be collected when you use certain services that are dependent on your mobile device's location (such as the location of an ATM or in-store transactions).
