Fill out the quick Refer a Friend form with your info and your friend’s name and email address.

Friend must be within Union Square’s field of membership.

They Join and Complete the Requirements

Your friend gets an email invitation with a link to open their account — online, at any branch, over the phone, or by chatting with us at unionsquare.org.

You Both Get $100

Once your friend opens their account and completes the eligibility requirements, we deposit $100 into your account and $100 into theirs.

What Your Friend Needs to Do

After your friend opens their first Union Square checking account (Kasasa Cash or Kasasa Cash Back):

  • Make 5 or more debit card purchases within 60 days
  • Log into online banking at least once within 60 days
  • Keep the account open and in good standing for 60 days

One important detail

Your friend must open their account using the same email address that received the invitation. That’s how we match their new account to your referral, and it can’t be corrected afterward. If they’d rather use a different email, just submit a new referral to that address first.

Get paid within 15 days of completing all three. The account must stay in good standing through the day the bonus is deposited.

Who Can Be Referred?

Union Square is a credit union, which means we are owned by our members and exist to serve them, so banking with us means becoming a member. Anyone within Union Square’s field of membership can be referred, as long as they’re opening their first Union Square checking account and haven’t had one in the past 24 months.

Union Square Credit Union’s field of membership is limited to the following persons:

  1. Persons who live, work, worship, or attend school in Archer, Baylor, Clay, Wichita, or Wilbarger Counties, Texas; or Cotton or Tillman Counties, Oklahoma.
  2. Spouses of persons who died while within the field of membership of this credit union.
  3. Organizations of such persons.
  4. Members of the American Red Cross—North Texas Region who reside within the State of Texas.
  5. Voting members and employees of the Texas Consumer Council who reside within the State of Texas.
  6. Members of the American Red Cross – Oklahoma Region who reside within the State of Oklahoma.

and members of the family of such persons. The field of membership also includes employees of the credit union and members of their families.

How do I refer someone?
Fill out the Refer a Friend form, enter your information and your friend’s name and email address. Your friend will receive an email invitation with a link to open their account.
Does my friend have to use a specific email address?
Yes, and this is very important. Your friend must open their account using the same email address that received the referral. If they open with a different email, the referral cannot be credited, and it can’t be fixed afterward. If they prefer a different email, submit a new referral to that address before they open their account.
What if my friend never received the invitation email?
Have them check their spam folder first. If it’s not there, the address may have been entered incorrectly, submit the referral again with the correct address. If your friend does not receive an invitation, they were not successfully referred.
When do we get paid?
Both bonuses are deposited within 15 days of your friend completing the qualifications and their account being open at least 60 days. Each account must remain open and in good standing until that bonus is deposited.
What does “in good standing” mean?
An account is in good standing if it is not overdrawn, restricted, suspended, or charged off, and the member has no past-due or charged-off obligations with the credit union.
Is the $100 bonus the same as the Kasasa monthly rewards?
No, they’re separate, and that’s good news. The $100 is a one-time bonus for meeting the requirements above. Kasasa rewards are ongoing, earned each month the account’s monthly qualifications are met. Your friend can earn the $100 even in a month they don’t earn a Kasasa reward.
Can I refer someone who already banks with Union Square?
Yes, as long as they’re opening their first Union Square checking account and haven’t had one in the past 24 months. Savings-only members and joint owners without their own primary checking can qualify.
Can a parent refer their child?
Yes — as long as the child is 13 or older. Members age 13–17 need a parent or legal guardian as a joint owner on the account. Note: referring members must be 18 or older.
Is there a limit on referrals?
Five paid referrals per qualifying member, up to $500. There’s no limit on how many people you can invite; the limit applies to bonuses paid.
Is the bonus taxable?
The bonus may be reported as taxable income. Any required tax documents are issued automatically. Please consult your tax advisor.
